Modernizing a gay dating app's user interface

Squirt.org is a gay dating site for men looking to meet other men for hookups, dating, and friendship.

The company is gearing up to launch its mobile app, expanding its reach beyond its current web app. While redesigning the features, I prioritized ensuring a smooth transition across mobile and desktop interfaces.

The Challenge

Enhancing User Retention and Modernizing the Interface

The project had two primary goals: first, to address the challenge of increasing user retention rates and reducing account deletion requests, particularly among younger users aged below 30.

Second, to modernize the Squirt.org experience by delivering a responsive and cohesive interface that rivals industry competitors.

The Features

Grid View

The modern 3-thumbnail grid layout feels up-to-date when compared to competitors, providing ample space for images to shine as screen sizes increase. Emphasizing filters enhances user experience, catering to their frequent use and streamlining content discovery on the grids.

The Features

Profile View

The bottom action bar makes key actions easily accessible, like starting a chat, boosting user engagement. The refreshed layout highlights full-screen photos, emphasizing visuals, and organizes profile content for smoother navigation and user-friendly browsing.

The Features

Fan Club Membership

We strategically place 'Upgrade' buttons and our Fan Club Page to encourage free members to upgrade, showcasing premium features and pricing.
